The new Gun Lake Tribe casino that is being built in Wayland, Michigan is going to be slightly smaller than that of what was originally planned. The casino is going to be at a size of about eighty-three thousand square feet in its area. This is about half as big as what the Gun Lake Tribe had proposed in the past.

The reduction in size is due to a substantial amount of delays to try and get the casino construction to be funded. The original size of the southwestern Michigan casino was found to be too expensive to handle. With the new size of the casino a loan at $165 million was easier to get through Goldman Sachs.

After the construction is finished at some time in the early part of 2011 the casino will open with a series of slots and table games. A series of restaurants will be included. The casino will also be hiring people for employment this fall and will train people before the casino opens. It is estimated that six hundred people will be employed by the casino before it will officially open.

The casino will be located about twenty miles south of Grand Rapids.

The Trump Plaza Hotel and Caesars Atlantic City casinos were closed for a few days due to air conditioning failures. The Caesars casino was closed from July 15 to the morning of July 17. The Trump casino closed on the 15th and would not be open again until July 18 in the middle of the afternoon.

The air conditioning failures were caused by leaking pipes at a nearby Pepco Energy Services plant outside of Atlantic City. Pepco works to handle a plant that is used to get cooling systems at these two casinos to work.

Temporary air conditioning systems will be used in these casinos until the problem is fixed. It is estimated that it will take at least four weeks for the problem to be repaired by Pepco.

The two casinos have not stated what their potential losses from the closures would be. However, it is estimated that the losses will be worth millions of dollars. The reopening of the Caesars casino drew less than expected crowds due to the partial operation of the air conditioning unit in the casino.

This is the first time these casinos were closed since the three-day state government closing of casinos back in 2006.

Isle of Capri Casinos and Argosy Gaming both introduced proposals to the town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri for a new casino. City officials have stated that they are leaning towards the proposal presented by Isle of Capri.

The Isle of Capri proposal states that a casino would open on the riverfront of Cape Girardeau. This area would be built along fifteen acres of property that has not been developed on. A 750-seat center for special events would also be opened on the site. Isle of Capri states that about four hundred new jobs would be created if their proposal was accepted.

City officials have been concerned with regards to how the Argosy proposal was not very specific. St. Louis Capital Partners, which made a proposal before these two new ones were posted, was not very specific. Officials are asking for St. Louis Capital Partners and Argosy to provide more details on what is going on with their plans.

The casino would be the only casino in Cape Girardeau if it was developed. It would take over the only open casino license in the state. This license was opened for potential developers after the President Casino closed down in St. Louis.

The Seminole tribe’s Florida casinos will begin offer all-day table poker games beginning on July 1. This new opening was made possible by a legislation that was passed by the Florida Legislature and the Seminole Tribal Council.

The six casinos that the tribe owns, including the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino locations in Tampa and Hollywood, have had poker tables for years. However, the hours for these tables were limited. On July 1 the poker tables at these locations along with the second Hollywood casino and the ones in Brighton, Coconut Creek and Immokalee will be open all day long.

A series of new poker table rules were also introduced as a means of increasing the stakes of games. The original $100 maximum buy-in that was used for no-limit poker games has been removed. The maximum bet of $5 per round in a limit game has also been removed. All buy-ins for poker tournaments at these casinos will not have to deal with any limits either. The limit of $1000 for a buy-in for a tournament will be removed.

The Seminole tribe states that this twenty-four hour poker service will be open on all 1,360 poker table seats that it has at all six of its casinos.

The Argosy casino in Sioux City, Iowa has announced that it will stay at its current location along the coast of the Missouri River. It will not be moving towards an inland location. The announcement was made by casino head Kees Eder on June 21.

The casino has chosen to stay in its current location in order to keep from dealing with expenses that would have been created upon moving. Concerns about the upcoming opening on a casino in Northwest Iowa in Larchwood helped encourage the Argosy casino to stay in its current location as well.

There has been some talk of moving the casino since Penn National Gaming bought the casino for more than two billion dollars back in 2005. A number of areas, including the Sioux City Convention Center and the empty Warrior Hotel, have been considered as possible sites for the casino. However, casino officials have openly stated that the physical build of the Warrior Hotel would make it difficult to put a casino in there.

The main goal of all relocation concerns has been to look into finding a downtown location for the casino. Eder has stated that the casino is looking to work with a one-deck form instead of the two-deck form that it is using as a riverboat.

The Hollywood Casino Perryville in Perryville, Maryland is going to be opening on September 30. This is approximately a month earlier than that of when the casino originally expected to open up.

This change in the opening date came after reports stated that the casino received support from the state Board of Public Works. The Board agreed to spend fifty million dollars to get a thousand slot machines ready for the casino.

The casino cost about ninety million dollars to build. The construction on the casino has been well ahead of schedule and was a major factor into the decision to move the opening date of the casino up to September 30. The casino will have about fifteen hundred video lottery terminals. It will be operated by Penn National and will create at least three hundred new jobs in the state.

The casino, which is going to be located off of I-95 in an area of northeast Maryland near Aberdeen, will be the first casino to open up in Maryland. It will be approximately 75,000 square feet in size. The state already has six horse racing tracks but it does not feature any other gaming options until this new casino opens up.

Two casino initiatives in the state of Michigan are being proposed by opposing groups. These two groups are currently working to collect signatures from potential supporters. This is so these initiatives can get on the ballot for the November election.

The first group that is looking to get on the ballot is Michigan is Yours. The group, which is endorsed by the mayor of Benton Harbor and the former Detroit Gaming Commissioner, is looking to add seven new casinos in the state. These include casinos in Detroit, Flint, Benton Harbor and even in Detroit International Airport. The group is also looking to get sports betting to be allowed in these casinos.

The second group in question is Racing to Save Michigan. The group, which is led by a number of executives for assorted racetracks in the state, is looking to add casinos in a different manner. It wants to add three new casinos in Michigan along with casino games to all five racetracks in the state.
Both groups have differing tax proposals. The Racing to Save Michigan plan would involves casinos having thirty percent of their gross revenues taxed. The Michigan is Yours campaign is proposal a tax level of only nineteen percent.
Both groups will need to get petitions with 386,000 signatures on them before they can be added to the ballot. The deadline to receive these signatures is July 5.

A casino license for Lyon County, Iowa has been approved. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission agreed to give this license to the area. The Commission determined that this casino license will help to get plenty of revenue from visitors outside of Iowa. The Commission also determined that other Iowa casinos would not be harmed by this new one.

The casino will be specifically placed in the town of Larchwood. This Lyon County town is less than ten miles away from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The casino in question will be a major part of the Lyon County Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood. This casino is projected to have a little over nine hundred slot machines along with other games. A large center for events and a small hotel will also be featured here.

The casino is expected to open in the middle part of 2011. Construction will begin on the site in June. Also, a golf course that will open on the site in 2013 will be built during the same time. More than four hundred jobs will be added to the economy.

This license was added after three other applications for casino licenses in Iowa were rejected by the Commission. The Commission will not rule on any new licenses for at least three years.

The MGM Mirage Aria casino at the CityCenter in Las Vegas has opened up a brand new poker room. This room, the Ivey Room, is a high-end poker room that will be home to all sorts of different poker competitions. The room will be reserved for high-stakes poker games as well as high-value poker tournaments.

The room was opened on May 22. A celebrity poker tournament worth $250,000 was held at the room. The entrants were also able to compete against poker legend Phil Ivey. Entrants could have received a bonus $250,000 if they beat Ivey in a heads-up match.

The poker room will only feature one table. This is a table that will be reserved only for high-stakes matches. It will also be home to nationally televised tournament matches. It is also expected to be the final table for many tournaments in the near future.
