The opening of table games on July 9 at the Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie, Pennsylvania brought in one of the busiest days in recent years for the casino. It is estimated that the casino was at about ninety percent of its capacity throughout the day. This is much higher than that of what is found on other standard days in the casino.

The casino introduced forty-eight table games to customers. These table games include poker and roulette games. This is a part of a major plan to bring in table games to casinos around Pennsylvania. It was also a part of a plan to add more jobs. About five hundred new jobs were created at the casino for these games.

It is not clearly known as to exactly how many people showed up at the casino. However, reports state that thousands of people were there for the opening of these new games. Casino officials are hoping that this trend can continue over time.

Presque Isle Downs and Casino is not the only place in the western part of Pennsylvania that is introducing table games. The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh has introduced a large series of games as well as the Meadowlands Racetrack in Meadow Lands right outside of Pittsburgh.

Kansas to Extend Date to Get Casino Contract

Posted by admin On September - 21 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

The amount of time needed to apply for a state-owned casino contract in the south-central section of Kansas is expected to be extended. The current deadline to apply for a contract through the Kansas Lottery Commission was originally going to be July 22. However, that date is expected to be extended to a later date.

The reason for this comes from how there has been no bidders for a casino in this section of Kansas. There have been a few people looking to get a contract in this section of the state but they have all pulled out. There have been no pending applications as of April.

The specific time for the extension has not been released as of yet. The date will be decided upon on July 14 during a meeting by the Commission in Topeka.

Kansas state law says that one state-owned casino can be featured in each of the four sections of the state that have been designated by the Kansas Lottery Commission. There are no casinos in the south-central section of the state. Two of the sections already have casinos. These include a casino in Dodge City and one being developed right outside of Kansas City near the Kansas Speedway.

Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. is looking to sell its Trump Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. Trump Entertainment Resorts, which is currently bankrupt, is looking to raise money to pay off its debts in order to get out of bankruptcy.

The sale is expected to work to pay off a large portion of the $334 million in debt that the company is dealing with. This is a substantial decline from the $1.8 billion that was owed prior to bankruptcy.

The casino has found a potential buyer in New York’s Atlantic Capital Group. The company will end up getting a twenty-two percent ownership in Trump Entertainment after the company gets out of bankruptcy. This will be the largest stake in the company. Trump Entertainment founder Donald Trump will only have a ten percent share in it.

The sale may end up being a challenge though. This is due to how casino revenues in the city have gone down in recent years. The reduction in revenues is expected to be even greater in the future now that Pennsylvania casinos are offering table games.

Trump Entertainment will only operate two casinos in Atlantic City after the sale is completed. The company will continue to operate the Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.
