Prince Alexis Obolensky organized the first backgammon tournament during the autumn of 1964. This was probably the first and the best international backgammon tournament ever. The winner was Charles Wacker from Chicago/USA. This was the hour of birth of the game of backgammon on a large scale. The game soon spread to different parts of the world.
