Online Backgammon – Care To Test Your Skills?
Online Backgammon is a very exciting game. It has been played for ages. The game’s popularity has increased after the internet boom. The reason people get attracted to the online version is because it is much safer. It can entertain the player for hours together. It is also considered a family game. Online backgammon is not always associated with money. In fact any one can play just for the fun of it with no money hassles involved.
This game originated in Rome and over the past so many years there have been minor modifications as to how it is played. This game would seem similar to checkers for any beginner. The whole concept of this game is to move the checker pieces around and eventually get them back to your home territory. The game does involve dice counting. In this game two dies are used generally. But that would make it like any normal game wouldn’t it? To make it more interesting a third dice is used.
There are some tips one should follow while playing this Backgammon online. They are as follows:
- When your opponent makes a move called the advanced anchor, you needs to immediately make one too. It’s natural to become defensive if the opponent makes a real bold move.
- Suppose you lag in the beginning, it doesn’t mean that you will end up losing for sure. Sometimes things may improve as you play along.
- If you seem to be leading, then you might as well take advantage of the situation and get racing! This will be a great advantage for you.
- Sometimes you may end up having doubts about the final outcome of the game. In those cases just call a HIT. But this in turn makes the opponent more confident that you might be on the losing end.
- When you are almost sure to lose, hold on to your points and then wait for a shot that might be your “winning shot”.
- Most of the players of this game don’t realize that for every two gammons lost, you have got to gain one by winning a game to make up for it. Only then will you be able to sustain in the game.
- When you encounter a rolling situation, always save.
Prince Alexis Obolensky organized the first backgammon tournament during the autumn of 1964. This was probably the first and the best international backgammon tournament ever. It was conducted on the Bahamas islands and the total number of participants was thirty-two only. But this was considered a huge number, at that point of time, considering the popularity of the game. The winner was Charles Wacker from Chicago/USA. This was the hour of birth of the game of backgammon on a large scale. The game soon spread to different parts of the world. Each place the game was played, there was unique feature added to it. If you haven’t tried it, it is definitely worth a shot.
