The Trump Plaza Hotel and Caesars Atlantic City casinos were closed for a few days due to air conditioning failures. The Caesars casino was closed from July 15 to the morning of July 17. The Trump casino closed on the 15th and would not be open again until July 18 in the middle of the afternoon.

The air conditioning failures were caused by leaking pipes at a nearby Pepco Energy Services plant outside of Atlantic City. Pepco works to handle a plant that is used to get cooling systems at these two casinos to work.

Temporary air conditioning systems will be used in these casinos until the problem is fixed. It is estimated that it will take at least four weeks for the problem to be repaired by Pepco.

The two casinos have not stated what their potential losses from the closures would be. However, it is estimated that the losses will be worth millions of dollars. The reopening of the Caesars casino drew less than expected crowds due to the partial operation of the air conditioning unit in the casino.

This is the first time these casinos were closed since the three-day state government closing of casinos back in 2006.

The Hollywood Casino Perryville in Perryville, Maryland is going to be opening on September 30. This is approximately a month earlier than that of when the casino originally expected to open up.

This change in the opening date came after reports stated that the casino received support from the state Board of Public Works. The Board agreed to spend fifty million dollars to get a thousand slot machines ready for the casino.

The casino cost about ninety million dollars to build. The construction on the casino has been well ahead of schedule and was a major factor into the decision to move the opening date of the casino up to September 30. The casino will have about fifteen hundred video lottery terminals. It will be operated by Penn National and will create at least three hundred new jobs in the state.

The casino, which is going to be located off of I-95 in an area of northeast Maryland near Aberdeen, will be the first casino to open up in Maryland. It will be approximately 75,000 square feet in size. The state already has six horse racing tracks but it does not feature any other gaming options until this new casino opens up.
