Online Poker May Be Brought to Florida Racetracks
The state of Florida is looking to potentially bring in online poker games to the horse racing tracks around the state. The state government has expressed support on both sides of the aisle for online poker on racetracks in the state. Two separate bills for online poker gaming in Florida have already been introduced and filed.
This could be used as a means of attracting many people around Florida who enjoy playing online poker. It is estimated that nearly a million people in Florida play online poker. It is also estimated that about 300,000 people already play online poker for real money. The racetracks would use these bills to help bring in people through online gaming that is legal for anyone to use.
An interesting point about getting this legislation passed is that it may be used to help with allowing people to play in online poker rooms for money without dealing with any potential cases of breaking the law. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act states that an American company cannot run an online poker room with the intention of getting money. However, the potential Florida bills may be used to get people to avoid dealing with this act.
The bills are being used as a means of working to try and get the substantial budget deficit in Florida to be reduced. In fact, it is estimated that the budget deficit could end up being reduced by around $37 million in value within three years. This report is according to a recent study.
However, it is not certain as to how the Florida state government is going to work with the bills. The Republican-controlled government has not been very predictable with its decisions. This is in spite of the bills have full support from both sides of the political aisle.
