The word “Roulette” is a French word which means wheel. There are many theories about origination of the game. One theory says that the game first originated in China and it was brought to Europe by Dominican Monks who were trading with Chinese at that time. However, the other theory says that Roulette is the creation of French mathematician Blaise Pascal in 17th century. Englishmen also called it as Roly-poly.

There are two variation of Roulette:

1) European Roulette
2) American Roulette

European Roulette: – The European version of roulette is also called as “0” Roulette game. It was first developed in 1842 by a Francois and Louis. They developed it such a way that it was more players friendly and players have better winning chances. When it was first developed, gambling was illegal at that time in France, so it was introduced in Hamburg, Germany where it gained much anticipated popularity. Later it was again introduced in southern France by Francois and Camille his son.

American Roulette: – Also known as “00” Roulette game. Later when Roulette was introduced in America, they inducted the “00” to have an edge over players. Removing “00” from the original Roulette give them an advantage over players.

Later on when casino became legal in France, even then roulette was constrained to Southern France, Monte Carlo also known as gambling Mecca aimed to serve elite Europeans. Only after 1933 it was available other parts of France.

Online roulette was introduced during middle of 1990s and since it was very popular in Land-based casinos, it also became popular online casino games. It is at present one of the most popular casino games both online and land-based.

Soon Roulette became one of the most famous casino games and attracted more and more people around the world. Today Roulette is the main game in both land-based and online casinos. It is the popularity of the game which is drawing more and more people to casino. It more of luck game rather any proper strategy game. Since it is fundamentally based on probability so it has good knowledge of probability than you have advantage over other players.
