The rules of Texas Hold Holdem poker seem confusing the first time you try to understand them, but it will be quickly apparent once you watch a game in action. In Holdem, each player receives two cards face down. Five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. (This is also called the Board of Directors.) The player who makes the best five cards with any combination of their two cards and the five community cards wins the round.

In a game Texas Holdem, a disc or other marker is used to indicate the person who is the “merchant”for the cycle. Before the cards are dealt, the two players to the left of the dealer position forced bets called blinds. The person immediately to the left of the dealer posts a bet called the small blind, which is generally equal to half the minimum bet. The person to the left of the big blind small blind, which is equal to the minimum bet. The hole cards are dealt to each player face down and the person to the left of the big blind starts. (Note that the big blind and small blind do not get to look at their cards before betting, hence the term “blind”).

In the first round of betting, each player has three options: call, raise or fold. To call, the player must place a bet that is equal to the last bet placed. (For the first player in the round, this would be equal to the minimum bet.) A player may choose to raise their bet by an additional amount, the other players who will then have to call. If we hole cards are not favorable, the player can choose to simply fold and sit at the round.

After all the players have finished the first round of betting, the first three community cards are dealt face up on the board. This is called failure. The second and all betting rounds start with the first player to the dealer left, and players now have the opportunity to check. By checking the player indicates interest in the pot without placing a bet. Any player may choose to place a bet, the other players must then call. Players can still increase if a bet was made, or if their share fold is unfavorable.

After all the other players had wagered (or folded), the flop, the fourth community card is dealt face up. It is the tower card. The lowest bet is multiplied by 2 in the past two rounds . Following the betting round, the ultimate community card is shown. This is the map of the river. A final round of betting ensues, and each player turns their hole cards face up in the order in which they bet. Players can spoil their hole cards (discard pile in the card used), if an opponent has shown a better hand.

The highest hand that can be done with any combination of the actor hole cards and the five community cards wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand, the next highest card in the reader part (the kick) is used to break a tie. If there is no kicker card (tied players have used both cards, it was more kicker on the board, or both players have exactly the same five cards), then the pot is split between them. The dealer button is then passed clockwise to the next player and a new round of play begins.
