Roulette – Strategies Behind The Game!

Albert Einstein once said “You cannot beat a roulette table unless you steal money from it”.

But the great man was only partially right while talking about this immensely popular game. Roulette is a game that involves an entirely different strategy when compared to other gambling games. This is due to the rather plain fact that, at the end of the day, it‘s just a game of chance and no one can predict where the ball will land.
However, a good strategy can get you to a point where you can win more and lose less, even though it can’t increase your odds several times.

BASIC STRATEGIES:
The primary rule in order for that to happen is to choose the European wheel, as the odds here are higher by 2.7% to 5.26% than the odds of American roulette. Even though this may seem a small amount, in a game of roulette, even marginal increases in probability affects winnings.

The next tip is to look for the Surrender rule, which allows one to take back half of ones bet on the even number bets (high/low, red/black, odd/even) in case the ball lands on 0 or 00.

Also, if the chance permits, make good use of the En Prison Rule, where you can save the bet for one more spin in case it lands on 0. This means, if one places a bet and the ball lands on 0, the bet will be kept for one more spin. That way, it is still possible to win the bet in the second try. However, in case the ball lands on something else, the bet is lost.

NUMERICAL STRATEGIES:
Keeping in mind that there are 37 numbers on a roulette wheel- 18 red, 18 black and the zero, the odds of winning with any single number, on a single bet are 1/37, which equals 2.7%.

Considering those figures, it doesn’t require much brainwork to suggest that there needs to be a better strategy.

So, a safer approach can be adopted, by betting on a color-either red or black- which gives, on calculation, odds of 18/37 or 48.6%, much better than the paltry 2.7%.

The profit gained at each stage should be the basis on which the pair of colors or numbers is chosen in the next stages. It is better to go for pairs if the profit is below 40%. A half plus advantage allows you to bet on a single one. This should continue through out the game to get marginal difference in pay back. This slow and steady method is of great use although people tend to get impatient.

Roulette has a rich history dating back to around three centuries ago. The game was invented by the famous French mathematician Blaise Pascal, who was also the inventor of the calculator. Roulette became very popular in Europe especially in France and then spread to the Americas, resulting in two different versions: the European type of roulette and the American kind of roulette. It’s popularity continues to grow.
